With the Prime Minister Yojana (PMKVY) for skilling the financially challenged people in India, gearing up, a huge hue and cry has been raised and there is a boost in the confidence levels of youths, school dropouts and underprivileged classes in the society. This skill training program not only provides proper training but also gives them a cash award and helps them to get a suitable job at the end of a successful training. Thus, the Prime Minister’s dream to offer skill training to 24 lacs youth in India is gradually gaining ground.
According to a recent report, the final examination for the General Duty Assistant was held on the 3rd of January, 2016, at Brainware’s Barasat campus. This course comes under the PMKVY, the PradhanMantriKaushalVikasYojana. The main objective of the course is to train general duty assistants, who can assist nurses in Govt. and Private. Hospitals. 24 students had attended both the Theory and the Practical examinations. The practical examination mainly comprised of demonstrations like Bed Making, height weight measurement, assisting patients in crutch walking, checking of temperature and pulse rate and so on. The Students represent the under privileged sector of our society. This is indeed a commendable and noble initiative by the Govt. to make them self-sufficient and financially independent through this venture. All the students performed well at the examination.
There is a quite similar plan for the scheduled castes and the scheduled tribes in West Bengal under the govt. body, WBSCSTD&FC. It had started in the year 1976, was amended in 1980 with a noble initiative to enhance and uplift the economic status of the scheduled classes and the scheduled tribes in West Bengal. This is done especially due to the Corporation Mandate for those living under the poverty line. Moreover, initiatives are also taken to develop the cultural, educational, economic, development of the SC/ST groups in the state of West Bengal.
Brainware, the premium educational institute has also tied up with WBSCSTD & FC to organize these programs at proper interval. Better options of livelihood are provided to them through this venture. Thus the Finance Corporation and the SC & ST Development of West Bengal organizes the skill training development of West Bengal, through the partnership with NSDC and the training institutes like Brainware. The courses under the program are for the scheduled castes and the scheduled tribes communities of the states.
The course of General Duty Assistant (GDA) is affiliated to the HSSC or the Healthcare Sector Skill Council in India. The duration of the course is 360 hours, 240 class hours and 120 hours for internship. The eligibility for this course from the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) communities West Bengal is a minimum academic standard of Class X and between between 18 and 35 years. The income of the family should not exceed Rs. 98000/- (for rural areas) and Rs. 120000/- (for urban areas.)
