If you are an ECE graduate, and applying for jobs like software engineer, project engineer etc, then these questions will be commonplace in every interview. We will share a few top ECE interview questions today :
What are the different types of communications? : The telecommunications sector is one of the biggest employers of ECE engineers. As an ECE graduate you are expected to know the difference between analog and digital communication. Analog is the process of translating audio and video signals into electronic pulses. Digital process breaks the signals into binary forms. Digital communication is less power consuming, and provides better sound quality.
State the difference between a Mobile & Cellphone : ECE engineers are also widely employed in consumer goods industry – many electronic products such as mobiles, ipads and other gadgets are popular in the consumer market. ECE engineers are expected to know about the difference between mobiles and cellphones. There is actually no difference between the two. In the UK, this device is called mobile, in US cellphone.
How Does a Mobile Work? : Mobiles basically convert the sound of our voices, to radio waves. These waves are transmitted through the air to nearby base stations, which sends the message through telephone network and the call reaches the person whose number you have dialled. As a candidate, you will also be expected to know about different base stations such as Macrocell, Microcell, Picocell etc.
Define Modulation. What are its uses? As we have mentioned before, ECE engineers often work in media and communication sector. If you applying for a communication related job, modulation related question will be common. Modulation is the process of aligning periodic wave with an external signal. Radio communication uses modulation process to superimpose bearing signal into carrier signal, to spread information over long distances.
Give some example of Modulation Techniques : Analog modulation examples : SSB, FM, PM etc.
Digital Modulation : ASK, OFDM, CPM, OOK etc
What are the chief divisions of power system? : The power system consists of 3 parts- generation system, transmission system, and the distribution system.
What is AM&FM? Explain their uses. : AM stands for Amplitude Modulation. It is primarily used for video signals.for TV. FM stands for audio signals used in Radio.
