No matter in what kind of job you are seeking – whether a high flown finance job, an advanced tech job, or a creative job, you just can’t escape the big bad interview.
So just like any other job – a job for graphical designing is also preceded by an interview. If you want to fulfill your dream of being a front end web designer .
Just like any other job, an interview regarding front end web designing will also involve questions testing how much you really know about web designing, questions about your experience, questions about your strength and weaknesses as a web designer etc. In this essay we will cover some common questions that are asked in web designing interviews.
What are some bad examples of web designing ? : As we have said before the employer will want to know how much you know about web designing. Every employer wants employees who are experts in their field or are at least competent in the subject they claim to know/be passionate about in their resume.
Knowledge of what constitutes as a bad/poor web designing will set you apart from novices. So be prepared to talk about blinking, spinning or flashing images, black backgrounds with dark texts, huge images, way too many images etc., too many headlines etc.
What industry sites & blogs do you read? This question is to know how updated are you in your craft. Go candid on this one, share about the websites you have seen, and read, the design patterns that have stood out to you, and most importantly how you can apply those patterns for your employer or the clients they handle…..
How Would You Help Out A Prospective Client for their Website? This question will make many web designers unleash their creative juices. But a word of caution here – we ain’t telling you not to be creative, but also keep in mind of the industry – the hypothetical client is based in, the current trends in the industry, the type of products/service they deal in, and the prospective consumers. Web designing for an FMCG company will be very different than say an iron and steel company.
How will you react to your design being challenged? This question is asked to ascertain your sense of conflict management, communication skills etc.
What is your favourite project till date ?: We will let you on a secret here. Instead of actually quoting a personal favourite project – quote a project which had gathered favourable reviews from your clients. This will make your employer see that you are dependable and capable of good work.
