This is quite an intriguing topic to write on. Almost like penning a futuristic fiction.
Although, we still have a long way to go, the following comprise those aspects which might take over the stuffs of today…
In the next 100 years the traditional college admissions process will be dead. No more boring applications, entrance exam scores or reference letters. Instead, students will be judged solely by their Facebook , Twitter and Instagram accounts — from the seriousness of the news they share and the types of pages they like to the intellectual aptitude of their Facebook friends .
Scholarships will become obsolete and all will receive free education. They will also receive free meals and boarding in the learning institutions. As a matter of fact this will be due to technological need for improvements rather than the personal drive for knowledge.
All students will receive opportunity to travel to other countries and experience different cultures since movement of people will be very easy. Education system will be global. Colleges and universities will hold classes worldwide. Students as well won’t be constricted to their own country and will juggle between morning class in Spain for Spanish, a science class in Japan mid-day, and a literature class in India.
In 100 years, Giant touch screens will adorn the school walls aiding students to learn, check, and share information. Learning institutions in 100 years will be revolutionized as schools will provide students the opportunity to pick their meals as all meals will be created using a 3D printer it will as well be personalized to the students taste. In completing their degrees students 100 years from now will be offered job placements by the learning institutions without any struggle or wastage of time. Representatives from established companies will be waiting at the end of the stage. Only seconds after a graduate’s name is called, they will be offered a starting position related to their area of interest or field of expertise. Moreover, students will be better entrepreneurs and create more job avenues.
Teachers will be facilitators only and students will teach themselves. However, this will not lead to paucity of education. In fact, they will be highly educated. More students will opt for higher education than those of now. And all students will complete university education.
On occasions, students will not have to attend classes as learning will be done using advanced technology. Students will come together to share information as assignments will be sent personally to each student and they will receive it instantly. They will learn through challenges based on personal interests. This will give them hands on experience instead of reading about what they are learning in a classroom.
In 100 years, students experience many past moments via time travel. Students in history classes will rocket back to the periods or events they are studying. They can enjoy a front-row seat for the first staging of a Shakespearean play, check out the Civil War (from a safe distance) or witness the construction of the Taj Mahal.
Students from the lower rungs of society will not have to give up their books to support the family. It will be the state that will look after the families. Therefore, the children will not require to choose work over study. In fact, they will study to earn a decent livelihood for themselves.
Education will be mandatory for all children from the age of 3. The government will send officials to every home to ensure that children are send to school, colleges, and universities.
Moreover, the youngsters will be more conscious than they are now. They will themselves keep track of their progress, take tests, make self-assessments, and adopt ways to improve and advance.
Students will develop numerous ways to contribute to society. They will empathise with the unfortunates and the hapless; do charity work, visit slums and old age homes, spread awareness on heath related issues, and many more. They will not be hesitant to extend hands to those who need them. In fact, they will be more aware and responsible to society.
