Skill Development

The National Skill Development Corporation India (NSDC) is a highly commendable, Public-Private-Partnership in India. It aims to promote skill development by catalyzing creation of large, quality-for-profit vocational institutions for funding the establishment of scalable, for-profit vocational training initiatives. Its mandate is also to enable support systems such as quality assurance, information systems and train-the-trainer academies either directly or through partnerships.

Brainware is now the Authorised Training Partner of NSDC STAR scheme

The objective of this scheme is to encourage skill development among the youth by providing monetary rewards for successful completion of approved training programmes. Specifically, the scheme aims to:
  • Encourage standardization in the certification process and initiate a process of creating a registry of skills
  • Increase productivity of the existing workforce and align the training and certification to the needs of the country
  • Provide monetary awards for Skill Certification to boost employability and productivity of youth by incentivizing them for skill training
  • Reward candidates undergoing skill training by authorized institutions at an average monetary reward of ₹ 10,000 (Rupees Ten Thousand) per candidate
  • Benefit 10 lakh youth at an approximate total cost of ₹ 1,000 Crores

WBMDFC (West Bengal Minorities' Development & Finance Corporation)

WBMDFC (West Bengal Minorities' Development & Finance Corporation) was established in 1996 as per West Bengal Act XVIII of 1995, ie The West Bengal Minorities Development and Finance Corporation Act, 1995. The functions of the Corporation are to take generally the task of economic welfare of the minorities through Industrial, Commercial and Cultural activities. The minority comprise those who communities are Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists and Parsees as per notification The of Govt of India while the Govt of West Bengal has also notified The Jain Community as a Minority Community but as this community is not on the Central Government list, it can avail benefits of only those schemes which are undertaken out of the fund granted by the State Government.
WBMDFC has taken up various schemes for Economic Welfare, Scholarships, Vocational Training, Mass Awareness, Career Counseling schemes which are all successfully running.

SDI - MES (Ministry of Labour & Employment, Govt of India)

The skill level and educational attainment of the workforce determines the productivity as well as the ability to adapt to the changing industrial environment. A majority of Indian workforce does not possess marketable skills which is an impediment in getting decent employment and improving their economic condition. A large number of school drop outs do not have access to skill development for improving their employability. The educational entry requirements and long duration of courses of the formal training system are some of the impediments for a person of low educational attainment to acquire skills for his livelihood.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment, New Delhi has launched the Skill Development Initiative Scheme.

OBJECTIVES

1. To provide vocational training to school leavers, existing workers, ITI graduates, etc. to improve their employability by optimally utilizing the infrastructure available in Govt., private institutions and the industry. Existing skills of the persons can also be tested and certified under the scheme.
2. To build capacity in the area of development of competency standards, course curricula, learning material and assessment standards in the county
